mini-honeymoon perfection – pine grove park bed and breakfast

i had another post topic in mind for today, but i can’t wait to share brad’s & my mini-honeymoon!

we left our apartment on thursday afternoon and returned friday afternoon, so it was a short, but amazing, getaway!

we stayed at the pine grove park bed & breakfast in reedsburg, wi – near wisconsin dells.

i stumbled upon the b&b while searching for places near wisconsin dells for us to stay. initially i was thinking of a fancy hotel room in one of the indoor waterpark resorts in the dells. um. i’m glad i didn’t find any that met our budget.

we had an incredible night and i wouldn’t have changed anything (except to stay many more days!).

we arrived at 5:30 on thursday and headed straight to the lobby.

we had to do a self-check-in, which was so easy! we just filled out our credit card information, chose what time we wanted breakfast delivered and what our drink of choice was (coffee for both of us), and grabbed a chess set and some cards to play.

then we headed up the cutest little trail.

to our guest house: tamarack cabin!

cutest little cabin ever, huh?!?

then i seriously died when we stepped inside!

charming and perfect! notice the awesome quilt on the king-sized bed. 🙂 and the adorable bowl sink in the corner. oh, and brad’s favorite part: the television!

but the best part….

our own private hot tub. aka perfection!

i think we spent over an hour in there thursday night and a couple minutes on friday morning too. so relaxing.

as soon as we arrived, we headed down to explore the grounds with a drink.

and saw a beautiful pond with a cute bench perfect for relaxing and chatting!

oh, and going photo crazy!

we love each other.

brad was about to pry my camera out of my hand! 🙂

after we got our fill of lake-viewing [and finished our drinks…], we headed back up to the cabin and ordered dinner.

calabria pizza & pasta came highly recommended. and we concur. awesome awesome food! oh, and the leftovers were great too! 🙂 we ordered:

  • garlic knots
  • spinach & artichoke dip (brad’s choice)
  • calamari (my choice)
  • penne a la vodka (my choice)
  • chicken alfredo (brad’s choice)

yum times a million!

while we ate dinner, i was an amazing wife and agreed to watch football on our honeymoon.

ok, i wanted to watch too! go packers & badgers! 🙂

we enjoyed our night and relaxed in the hot tub (we could see the tv from the hot tub = brad was in heaven!). then we were so ready for bed (one bottle of champagne + one bottle of wine + 2 beers + 1+ hours in the hot tub = sleepy sarah & brad).

we woke up to rain hitting the skylight.

jean (one of the owners) delivered our breakfast to our porch at 9am on the dot.

on the menu was:

  • a special blend of orange and grapefruit juice
  • breakfast blueberry strata with pure maple syrup
  • eggs featherbed with cheese, bacon, & prosciutto crumble

aka amazingness.

and we ate it in our luxurious robes!

it was seriously, the best way to wake up ever.

then we took a moment to write a little note about our stay in the memory book.

it was so fun looking at other people’s recaps. everyone had nothing but good things to say – apparently this is a popular “mini-moon” location!

sadly, our little trip had to come to an end… we checked out at 11am and headed back to madison. (we were originally going to go hiking or to a winery after we left, but the rain kind of killed that.).

on our way out of reedsburg, i realized we hadn’t stopped anywhere to buy a honeymoon souvenir! we spotted this antique shop and decided it looked promising.

it was so fun to poke around and find our own treasures! i got a mini pitcher and these cute little wooden bowls.

and brad found something too….

dun dun dun….

yeah. that’s hanging in our guest room now. *sigh*

oh brad.

and that was our honeymoon!

i want to go back…

***

seriously, it was an amazing experience and brad and i could not recommend pine grove park more highly.

please consider them for your romantic getaway if you’re ever in the area!

*****

have you ever stayed at a b&b?

this was our first time and we cannot wait to do it again!!

the weather was pretty nice minus it raining all day Friday & ruining our plans for a hike or winery tour. 😦 but it’s ok – it was still amazing!
