indian food wednesday (on thursday)

one important question to get us into the mood… why does indian food always look like baby poo?

it is very very difficult to make it look appealing in photos.

having blurry photos doesn’t help either.

i think i need to join the early bird dinner club so i can start eating when it’s still light outside and i can have a porch photo session.

anyway, despite the fact that i’ve never made indian food by myself, i knew that i had to make this recipe as soon as jenna posted it.

(oh yeah, and she does have beautiful photos of her indian food…)

since i haven’t told you get, this is chicken tikka masala that i made in my slow cooker yesterday!

brad had no idea i was making this for dinner since we have so many leftovers. after work, he came in, sniffed the air, asked, “are we having indian food?”, and then changed out of his work clothes.

then, when he saw me dishing his out, he was shocked, “you made indian food?”. (he assumed i warmed up some indian fare microwave meals from trader joes – which are really quite tasty and we do eat kind of often!)

yes, sir, i did!

i should have made naan, too…

this recipe is delicious! i followed it to the letter except that i used chicken breasts instead of thighs (we have a LOT of chicken in our freezer right now) and i didn’t have coriander, so i skipped it. i served it over rice and peas as jenna suggested, but i didn’t have fresh cilantro either, so i skipped that garnish too.

i am already thinking about the leftovers i have packed in my lunch. yay!

today is a pretty normal lab day. i’ve got a kind of long to-do list, but nothing i can’t handle!

hope you have a great day!

do you like indian food?

i really want to try another recipe now. any suggestions?

  1. I love Indian food!! I never tried it until I lived in London and then I became obsessed with chicken tikka masala!

  2. yummmm i bookmarked that recipe too! i might try it with chickpeas or lentils

  3. Deb Sieracki says:

I never made any Indian food but I am going to try this recipe.

  4. Looks yummy! And you should definitely make naan – it’s simple and SO tasty!

  5. oh you’re so right about wanting to eat earlier in the day now that the sun is setting so early … I hate winter photos … BOO

also – I think the coloured peas spruced up the photo a bit

also – I wouldn’t call it a traditional “indian” dish but I make a mean curried lentil stew at least once a month in the winter
