sorry to some of you who may have seen this post pop up in your google reader last weekend. i wrote it ahead of time since i received my package of treats 10 days ago! not sure what happened there – i scheduled it for today in windows live writer, but it published last weekend anyway… hmmm….
what are foodie penpals, you ask?! well, any bloggers and readers that wanted to participate signed up, and then on the first of september, we were assigned someone to send a package of new, exciting, local foodie items to! there is a $15 spending limit on the goodies and we’re each responsible for shipping our packages. everyone who participated was supposed to send out the packages by september 15 and then we’re all posting about it today (the last day of the month!).
the lovely hannah got paired up with me and sent me a box of amazing goodies!
she’s from vermont, so i was hoping for some new-to-me local-to-vermont items…and hannah delivered! 🙂
i definitely squealed when i opened the box and saw these cute vermont postcards (each with a recipe on the back!) and the cow tipping sticker.
hannah, how did you know i’m a country girl?! it’s perfect!
let’s look at this stuff a bit closer…
first up, i got this bbq sauce (which brad wanted to open immediately upon seeing!).
is that not the cutest label you have ever seen?! i’m a sucker for barnyard animals. we have plans to make some slow cooker ribs very soon and i think we’ll use this for them!
hannah also send this vermont harvest apple rum walnut conserve.
just typing that flavor combination makes my mouth water.
also in the box were some crackers.
and some cookies.
apparently, hannah is also quite the talented jewelry-maker! she made this necklace & earrings and included them in my package.
they are so so beautiful, hannah! i love them! and they’re my favorite color – purple!
i loved participating in foodie penpals this month. it actually made me discover new products local to my area since i was scoping out great finds to send to my partner, i got to try all of this awesome stuff from vermont, and i was introduced to some new blogs that i hadn’t followed before! win-win-win!
p.s. i sent a box of local madison foods to holly. go check out her blog to see what i sent!
p.p.s. if you’re interested in participating in foodie penpals, email lindsay (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your full name, email address, and your blog name/url (if applicable).
