wednesday eats

good morning! i am thankful for jenn’s link party today – i have a lot of recent meals to tell you guys about! 🙂

i’ve been bringing my oats and breakfast with me to lab as usual.

and i’ve added something to my morning routine….kombucha!

now that i’ve been brewing my own, brad and i have enough to each drink one kombucha per day! woop woop and hello saving $6 per day (not that we’d ever each drink one per day if we had to buy them…).

my lunches have been lots of leftovers, so i’m going to skip lunch photos and show you the original dinners (since they’re prettier!).

i was craving pasta the other day and told brad we were going to eat some gnocchi that i got from trader joe’s. when he heard “gnocchi”, he immediately requested vodka sauce. and what my man wants, my man gets (lol…sometimes.).

and for some extra veggies, i steamed some broccoli in a bag too!

another dinner winner was this sonoma chicken salad on a huge pile of spinach!

and that was served with some green bay packer string beans fresh from the garden!

mmm. this was a perfect dinner – lots of veggies and so tasty! brad requested a repeat of the chicken salad soon – but next time with grapes and apples!

now that my summer gardening program is over, i’ve been missing my doses of outside time, so i decided to volunteer with the fieldtrips of kids at the garden on tuesday afternoons! yesterday was my first day, and it was so much fun. now that i’m not in charge or trying to implement my research study, i am able to just enjoy being outside and have fun with the kids!

plus, it’s always awesome taking home fresh, organic, produce! yesterday i got tons of tomatoes and potatoes, some huge carrots, onions, eggplant, and those beans featured above! amazing.

and, tonight there is a chance of frost, so i’m going to have to harvest all of my beans, tomatillos, and peppers from my little porch garden too.

now i just have to use all of those veggies up…but i don’t think that’ll be a problem! 😉

hope you make today a great one – hooray wednesday!

  1. yay for produce!!! your gnocchi sounds delicious

  2. It’s been really nice the past few days in Boston (into the 80’s) but I think it’s going to cool down fast. I would have no problem with eating my way through produce either 😉

  3. It’s pouring down rain but I am happy to report that the high is only 65 today! After low 90s yesterday, I’ll take it!

  4. I really need to start making my own kombucha!! Do you flavor yours?

    • sarah says:

yep! with about 1oz 100% juice per bottle! this time, instead of juice, i added candied ginger. i hope i like it – i just realized that i added it to the whole batch. 10 bottles of icky kombucha would not be fun!

  5. I really want to try brewing kombucha – I’ve never done it!

  6. Dorry says:

Delicious veggies! It got pretty hot here, today – over 100, I think, but the next few days are supposed to cool down to highs in the 80s – thank the Lord!

  7. whoa. What is that pasta thing? It looks really delicious and creamy.
I can’t wait to go to the markets while I’m abroad. It’ll be wonderful to get fresh local things indeed.
Here in upstate new york it’s raining. A bit of a chill and certainly there is wind.
