labor day is finally here, which means it is offficially the end of summer.

but you know what? i’m totally ok with that! 🙂

i enjoy cooler weather, leaves turning colors, and of course, football season!

it’s pretty well known that i’m a green bay packers and wisconsin badgers fan, right? well in addition to my beloved teams, i’m also a fan of football game food! you know, the super unhealthy 3 hours of beer and greasy, fried foods that each saturday and sunday bring during football season?

i love them.

and now i like them just a little more!

because i hope to eat these several times over the next football-filled months!

buffalo chicken dip won tons

creamy buffalo chicken crisps

inspired by jessica’s baked buffalo chicken pasta (which brad and i devoured in an embarrassingly short amount of time),

jenn’s affinity for stuffing things into won tons,

and the long awaited arrival of football season!

these wontons are the perfect appetizer/game day snack for someone who loves buffalo wings, but isn’t a fan of their mess.

makes: 50 crispy won tons

prep time: 20 minutes*

bake time: 10-12 minutes

*it will take a bit longer if you have to cook and shred your chicken. i did mine ahead of time, which i totally recommend!


  • 8 oz. 1/3 reduced fat cream cheese (aka neufchâtel cheese)
  • 1/2 cup franks buffalo sauce
  • 1/4 cup lite bleu cheese dressing
  • 1/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3 chicken breasts, cooked and shredded finely
  • 50 won ton wrappers


  1. preheat oven to 400*
  2. in a large fry pan on  medium heat, melt together first 4 ingredients.
  3. add shredded chicken and mix well, making sure all of the chicken is coated
  4. lay won ton wrappers flat
  5. place 1 tbsp buffalo chicken stuffing into the center of won ton – don’t over-stuff them. you don’t want to lose all of the filling!
  6. see jenn’s great directions on how to assemble won tons and what to bake them on!
  7. lightly spray won tons with cooking spray
  8. bake at 400* for 10-12 minutes, until won tons are crispy
  9. serve with bleu cheese, ranch dressing, or more buffalo sauce for dipping

notes: i adapted my chicken stuffing from this recipe for buffalo chicken dip.

won ton assembly goes faster if you lay out a bunch of wrappers at a time, then fill them, then fold them.

also, this recipe makes quite a few won tons. if you don’t need so many, it can easily be cut in half or into quarters!

these are really delicious, and so not healthy.

however, if you serve them as an appetizer or a side dish to a veggie-filled meal, they’re not so bad since there is only 1 tbsp of the buffalo chicken dip filling in each! if you only eat 2 or 3, you’re good!

good luck stopping at 2 or 3 though. this buffalo chicken dip filling is seriously one of  my favorite football treats of all time!

  1. looks great! i’m gonna make some stuffed wontons this week too. i’m thinking mexican themed. the wrappers told me they’re tired of taking up space in my fridge 🙂

    WOW YUM! Those would be a great season opener treat 🙂 As a fellow Wisconsinite I also root for the Pack and the Badgers. I am also a Saints fan, but that is mostly because my bf converted me… not to worry, when they open with the Packers I will be wearing my green and gold!

    I don’t really like fall. I like to be warm, and fall = almost winter = cold. I’m a Gator fan, but I’m happy when the Packers and Badgers do well.

      oh man, we’re opposites!! I HATE hot weather. 70* is perfect to me. 🙂 today was a little chilly, but I’m kind of excited to be wearing sweats right now.
