let them eat cake

wow.

thank goodness brad and i took yesterday off from work. first of all, i was exhausted – i slept from about 10:30 on sunday night until 8:15 yesterday morning! that’s crazy for me. usually i pop out of bed by 6am and it’s no use trying to sleep later.

then we said goodbye to liz & keith. 😦 (go check out liz’s blog to see their cross-country travel adventures!)

then we tackled that massive to-do list from yesterday. i think we ended up finishing everything plus some, but it was go-go-go all day!

i didn’t get to snap many photos, so here’s the abbreviated version of yesterday:

i found places for all of our presents! granted, some of them are in the closet in the guest bedroom – but i’m ok with it! i had to wash our new kitchen stuff, including this set of china that was my great-great aunt sophie’s!

she passed away a while ago, but my mom has been saving this china for me & thought that my wedding was a perfect time to pass it on!

the bottom says vintage fine china japan 6701. i was curious about the china, so i tried looking up some more info about it last night. i couldn’t find much except that lots of people are selling it & replacement pieces online and that it was discontinued in 1967. i love it though! πŸ™‚ now i feel like we need to host a fancy meal so we can use it.

brad and i took care of a ton of other chores and tasks yesterday – i’ll catch you up on some of the other changes to our apartment, etc. sometime soon!

we haven’t made it to the grocery store yet, so yesterday’s meals were a little less than stellar. breakfast was great – brad make us egg sandwiches and breakfast potatoes! [no photos….oops!]

lunch was panera – i had the mediterranean veggie sandwich, which is always delicious! [no pictures again…]

dinner was some leftover pizza from our late night snacks from our reception. then we busted into this lovely…

brad and i asked my cousin’s wife, jenn, to make us a large cupcake cake for us to cut! i don’t have any photos of the cake/cupcakes set up on their stand yet (i’m hoping a friend took some and will pass them on! otherwise we’ll wait to get our pro pics back…). anyway, we cut our cake, ate a teeny tiny sliver, then went on our marry way. so yeah – we’ve got a lot of cake left! πŸ™‚

we pretty much attacked the cake last night and made a large dent in it! eek. it was delicious though! it was a chocolate cake with chocolate raspberry ganache and cream cheese frosting. yep – it was as good as it sounds!

then i packed up some treats for brad and i to take into work today.

we had a ton of leftover cupcakes from the wedding! we ordered 2x as many as we needed, so that’s no surprise…

we sent some home with everyone who was helping with the wedding/cocktail hour/etc. and brad and i took plenty back with us too!

i hope everyone likes them today! πŸ™‚

today is back to reality for me. i’m heading into lab in a couple minutes, and brad has to work today too. boo…

i’m not excited! i feel like i have another whole day’s worth of work to do here…

what’s your favorite flavor of cake/cupcakes?

out of the flavors we had at our wedding, the lemon cupcake with cream cheese frosting was my favorite!
