happy 3 year [dating] anniversary to my love!

we went out to celebrate last night at samba brazilian grill! samba offers an all you can eat 2-course meal for $36.95 per person, so it’s definitely a place that brad and i were saving for a special occasion! we have also been hanging on to a $50 groupon from there for a while, so that helped! 🙂

we ran some errands before heading to samba (getting our marriage license and dropping off my rings to be soldered together!!!) and we had a bit of time to kill before our reservation. we stopped into cafe samba for a drink or two even though we had a pretty bad experience last time we were there. this time, everything was great though! it was pretty dead in there, so maybe that’s why we got such great service!

i started with a malbec.

and brad got a brandy & diet.

we also ordered some fries from their happy hour menu because brad was starving and couldn’t wait until our reservation.

everything at cafe samba was good!

then we headed upstairs to the brazilian grill. our server was awesome and explained everything to us since it was our first time. we both got another drink. brad had the same thing, but i got a foozie woo woo (seriously, that’s the name of the drink – how could i not get it?!).

it had rum, lime juice, and cane sugar in it. it was tasty, but a little sweeter than i usually like, oh well, i still had no trouble polishing it off!

they also had a little bread basket on the table.

it had cheese inside! yum! you know i was happy…

we were encouraged to start at the salad bar, so we did! they had a huge selection of cold salad fixings and cold salads, so that’s what i stuck to on this first round.

i put down a big base of spinach and then added toppings:

  • roasted squash & zucchini
  • artichoke hearts
  • pickled beets
  • sun dried tomatoes and roasted tomatoes
  • hearts of palm
  • a sweet potato salad
  • curried chicken salad
  • garlic potato salad
  • balsamic goat cheese

and so much more that i can’t remember!

then it was time for the meat. we had this contraption to indicate if we wanted the rodizios to come bring us meat.

red side up if we didn’t want anything, green side up if we were ready for more! it was very cool – they came to the table and carved the meat right in front of us.

i didn’t snap photos of all of the meat options we got, but i got a couple!

a sausage (i don’t remember what kind) that was really good!

parmesan pork and a beef option (i forgot this one too!)

that’s all i have photos of, but i believe we tried 7 different meats plus some amazing grilled pineapple, which was probably my favorite thing of the night!

i went back up to the salad bar once to get a fresh plate and try the hot bar options.

the hot bar had garlic mashed potatoes, spicy black beans, and a black bean, lamb, and pork stew. i also got more balsamic goat cheese & roasted garlic!

we were both extremely satisfied, so we didn’t even look at the dessert menu. it was an awesome anniversary meal – i felt very spoiled afterward because we really don’t eat out at places like samba very often!

i highly recommend samba brazilian grill to anyone looking for a nice (delicious) meal out!

Soo that meal looks completely amazing!!! I shall have to try it if I EVER make it to Madison again?! I don’t know if I could convince Terry to eat there… Maybe after a couple more years I’ve working on him. He’s come a long way, but not THAT far (yet!). 😉
