a quick upgrade

ok really, how is today the first day of august?!? summer is just flying by! anyone else think so too?

today is a very special day in the sarah learns household. today is brad’s first official day of work! that means he can see patients (although a limited number because he is still waiting for a bunch of insurance companies to be accepted as an approved chiropractor for patients to see – this should be done in a couple weeks) and will be getting paid!! πŸ™‚

i haven’t talked about it much, but it’s been super tight the past few months getting by and planning a wedding on only my graduate student stipend. it will be nice when we’ve got two incomes!

i’ve got a special treat up my sleeve for brad’s breakfast this morning. (think this…)

what a lucky man… πŸ˜‰

a lot has been going on with me lately, and i want to give a couple updates, starting with our apartment! not much has changed since you last saw it, but i wanted to show you a quick upgrade that we made in our guest bathroom that i think makes a huge difference.

all of those exposed wire shelves were driving me crazy. we put our towel overflow and extra tissues/paper towel and other random things on the shelves and having everything visible really wasn’t doing it for me.

literally, since i first saw the apartment, i thought to myself, “i could just put a tension rod and a curtain panel in there and then it would be like a mini linen closet.”

and now we finally did it!

our guest bath has a red, black, and white color scheme, so brad and i stuck with that when picking our curtain panel. also, we didn’t want anything too expensive since this is a temporary (2 years?) living situation for now, so we don’t want to go crazy spending money to decorate. just little things here and there to spruce it up! anyway, this panel totally fit the bill. it was $9.99 from target (plus the $4.99 tension rod – less than $15 for this fix-up) and i love that is has a little pattern in it to keep things interesting!

also, that polka dot shower curtain has been with me for the past 3 years that i’ve lived in madison and it has got to go! we’re registered for a new shower curtain, so if we don’t get it as a gift, we’re absolutely buying it after the wedding.

ok, well i’m off to wake brad up and start on his breakfast! i have a dentist appointment this afternoon, which i am pumped about! i love getting my teeth cleaned. πŸ™‚ (i know – i’m a weirdo).

so tell me, have you done any recent apartment/home decorating changes?

i feel very young house love (ok, more like yhl’s 3rd cousin-once removed who wants to be just like them) when i do apartment posts.

do you like going to the dentist?

  1. Love the changes. Cheap and just makes the bathroom seem a littl enicer.

  2. so cute! happy first day of work to brad!

  3. I hate going to the dentist and build it up in my head to be something awful. This last time I went though it was perfectly fine!

  4. Your bathroom idea was great! I dread going to the dentist more than just about anything.

    • Sarah says:

thanks! honestly? I’m pretty proud of myself for the bathroom thing.

usually I would MEAN to do something like that forever, and never do it! I’m so glad I finally got it done.

  5. Grace says:

I pretty much don’t like going to any doctors or the facialist for that matter! I just ordered a black and white poster called Boulder on the Beach for a frame over my couch!

i love interacting with readers - your comments keep me going! :) leave a message so i can get to know you better.
