do you like it hot?

happy monday, friends! are you ready for the week?

oh my goodness, yesterday was a hot day in st. louis! it was over 80*! now, i’m all for the weather warming up, but i’m more of a 70* girl. i sweat like a monster and walking around outside when it’s in the 80’s always = a drippy mess. it’s pretty gross!

despite the hot temps, yesterday was a great day! it started with an epic bowl of oats again.

his and her portions. [guess whose is whose!]

they were made the same as yesterday, except today i topped mine with a little bit of blueberry preserves that i snatched from one of brad’s roommates in addition to the brown sugar, butterscotch, and pb. it was awesome. i also had a little coffee with a bit of 1% milk on the side. ๐Ÿ™‚

silly pups

i snapped this photo of ryno after brad and his roommates left on saturday when i was left alone.

the dogs always climb up in this window to check out what’s going on outside! silly boys. ๐Ÿ™‚

castlewood state park

even though it was a little hot for my taste, there was no way we could NOT take advantage of the glorious weather! we took capone and ryno to castlewood state park, which is about 2 miles from brad’s house in ballwin. they have a lot of trails, so we took the puppies on a hike!

we followed the grotpeter trail for about an hour. the trail is supposed to be 3 miles, but my runkeeper only showed 2.33 miles. i’m thinking that maybe it didn’t take the hills into account so it came out lower?

we had a pretty slow pace for the hike. it was hot and we didn’t want to over-exert the puppies.

there were so many ups and downs on the trails. i was huffing and puffing pretty quickly! there were a lot of roots, mud, and rocks on the trails too. my stabilization muscles in my feet and ankles definitely got a workout. i’m not used to having to work so hard like that!

everyone was taking advantage of the glorious weather! we saw lots of runners, hikers, dog walkers, bikers, and even two ladies on horses!

tired puppies

when we got the dogs home, they were so tired! after drinking tons of water, they both laid on the tile floors to try to cool down.

they wouldn’t get up at all!

after we all cooled down, brad and i gave capone a bath. he was a stinky puppy. brad also clipped his nails. he got exercise and a clean-up yesterday! ๐Ÿ™‚ good day for the puppy!

*****

dinner

after the hike and the bath, brad and i were starving. this weekend has definitely made me realize my downfall – lack of planning/grocery shopping + too long between meals = meals out.

we decided to go to olive garden for dinner. we had both talked about how we wanted italian food earlier in the weekend. i ended up having some of the salad, breadsticks, and a seafood ravioli dish. we also shared tiramisu for dessert.

again, not a healthy dinner! ahhhh. at least we had breakfast so late that yesterday was only a 2-meal day. *sigh*

monday mini-goals

โ™ฆ complete week 2 of the hundred push-ups program for the pipes challenge. โ† check! i ended up doing them on different days than i was planning, but that’s ok!

โ™ฆ call the church. โ† fail. this will get done this week!

โ™ฆ eat 7+ servings of fruits and vegetables each day. โ† i did this on every single day except yesterday.

this weeks goals are:

ยค complete week 3 of the pipes challenge.

ยค finish 2 projects at lab that i’ve been putting off.

ยค no alcohol all week. i’ve been enjoying a couple drinks a couple nights during the week and i think i could stand to cut down a bit.

ยค do 30 day shred 2x this week. self explanitory. i need to excercise! ๐Ÿ™‚

pipes challenge update

week 2 of the pipes challenge is successfully completed!

i did day 1 on tuesday, day 2 on wednesday, and day 3 on saturday. i even got brad and his roommate to join me on saturday night! ๐Ÿ™‚

unfortunately, i think i tweaked something in my back after saturday. it didn’t hurt during or immediately after doing the push-ups, so i have no idea if it’s related to push-ups or not. it was pretty sore yesterday, but it feels a bit better today. hopefully when i try my push-ups tonight, it will all be okay!

cross your fingers for me!

Those are some big puppies! Looks like you tired them out! Good job, you can take my puppy with next time!
    The trail looks fabulous.

    • Sarah says:

haha, yes! i’d love to bring your puppies too! ๐Ÿ™‚ our boys aren’t too big….they’re both about 65 lbs and 2 years old. i just call them puppies!

That’s quite an interesting post. If you don’t like “hot” be thankful you don’t live in SW FL. Our lows are low 70’s now and it hit 90 a day or two ago. Humidity 82% – this is sweat city. Say, hey to my dog relatives. They look well cared for and loved. I take it you like to eat. Try one of my human’s dishes, the Geezer’s recipe for a good breakfast treat. It’s called Eggs Bokeelia. See below:
1 – slice of toast, as fattening as you wish to make it
1- slice of ham (heated in skillet) stack on the toast – (thin slice of tomato is okay for ham haters)
1 – a slice of america cheese on the ham (or whatever)
1 – egg, sunny side up, overeasy, or poached (if you like to go to trouble) goes on the cheese.
top with Bokeelia Sauce which is
    1 – tablespoon of mayo
1 – tablespoon of butter or I can’t believe (you know the drill)
    2 – green olives w/pimentos diced finely
nuke for 30 seconds in ‘wave (or heat over campfire, stove, et al), stir and spoon over stack. Yum-Yum.
Keep those pups active and say Woof-Arf-Woof to Ryno and group from me. They’ll understand.

You had a WAY more productive weekend than me!!! But I did get my dog on a walk yesterday because it was super nice! I got worn out sooo fast, but he loved it ๐Ÿ™‚ Time to get in shape haha!

I hope you accomplish some of your goals for today…if not ALL! I have a feeling I’m gonna do nothing all day ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Have a good week!

  4. i love hiking!!! i’m so jealous you guys can trim your dog’s nails yourself. mine go flipping crazy and we’ve only found one lady who seems to have a magic touch and can get it done. we tried to take tucker to the salon at petsmart once and they sent us home without clipping his nails, saying it was too much work!

    • Sarah says:

brad does the nails – i’m always afraid i’ll cut them too low and make capone bleed. i’d feel sooooo bad!

oh poor tucker! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ what a bummer that he’s so afraid of getting his nails clipped!

  5. I don’t really meal plan, I’ve tried a few times and it never works out=/But I do always love your mini weekly goals, I make those in my head every week, it might help if I write them down:)

  6. And I thought we were lucky with 60 degree temps in Wisconsin!

  7. Dorry says:

Billy and I try to meal plan, but it goes back and forth depending on the week and what we have going on away from home. We almost always do a big grocery shopping trip on Sunday or Monday…then an additional one later in the week to pick up anything we forgot or fresh produce.

  8. Love the hike pictures!

I plan meals every week – after I get the list of produce for that week’s CSA box, I go to town! I keep track of everything in an excel document – it makes grocery shopping a breeze.

    • Sarah says:

i need to get into a system for meal planning and grocery shopping! i think it’ll be easier once i’m cooking for more than just me!
