last night was an unplanned happy hour night that ended up being exactly what i needed! 🙂 my friends and i decided to go to the library (a bar, not the actual library) for a drink or two after our weekly seminar that goes until 5:30 on wednesdays.
we ended up staying for about 3 hours chatting and laughing! first, i tried a beer i’d never had before. it was from ale asylum, an awesome madison brewery, and was called sticky mcdoogle. i just loved the name!
i love beer, but i wouldn’t call myself a connoisseur, so i don’t really know how to describe this one. but i loved it! after we all had our first round, we decided we’d be there for a while yet, so we got dinner. i had my favorite sandwich in the whole world – the portobello sandwich!
it had a grilled balsamic marinated protobello cap with pesto, goat cheese, and roasted red peppers. the library also makes their own chips daily. yesterday’s flavor was sour cream & onion. yum! i also had a pitcher of ale asylum’s hoppalicious – so good! it’s one of my favorite beers.
i came home from dinner and did day 2 of the pipes challenge. it was hard! i did a total of 33 push-ups. the last set was rough. but that was the extent of my “exercise” for the day, so i guess i shouldn’t complain! 😉
30 day challenge: day 24
today i have to post a photo of something i wish i could change. honestly, right now the biggest thing i want to change is this:
the wisconsin chiropractic association just got the state to change a law that will now require all incoming wisconsin chiropractors to take a state-administered practical exam plus the normal jurisprudence exam to get licensed. this wouldn’t be a problem, but the wca does not have the test written yet, and won’t have it written until approximately july (maybe later).
this means that my fiance, even though he graduates from chiropractic school in april and has passed all 4 rounds of national boards exams with flying colors, will not be able to practice in wisconsin until they write and administer the test. they have no procedure in place for temporary licensure, and cannot make any exceptions to this rule because it’s now state law.
honestly, i have uttered many expletives in the past couple weeks regarding this stupid change of protocol. it’s just not fair. how can they require a test that isn’t written yet? because of the fact that the test isn’t ready, brad has to sit on his butt and not practice for about 3 months after graduation. not cool. we’ve called state representatives, talked to lawyers, and contacted the wca, and apparently, there is no way that anything can be done to change the situation for brad.
so yeah, that is what i wish i could change right now. grrrrr.
on to happier topics!
after work today i’m heading down to st. louis for the weekend again. i’ll get a couple adjustments and do a lot of work on my research proposal defense presentation from starbucks (the presentation is on monday – eek!). we also have plans for a fun lunch out and lots of walks for the puppies! 🙂
