now i know my abc’s

i’m a tardy and uncreative blogger today. sorry, friends! ๐Ÿ™‚ i have much to update you on including the apartment showing yesterday, 3 meals out, and 3 delicious new food products that i tried this weekend!

i’m also taking a break from answering comments this weekend – if you’ve left me any in the past day or two, i will absolutely get to them tomorrow when i get back to madison. ๐Ÿ™‚

but that will have to wait for another day, because today you get the abc’s of me

a. age: 25

b. bed size: queen – i slept in a twin bed until i was 23, and now i LOVE my “big girl bed” ๐Ÿ™‚

c. chore you hate: folding laundry is my absolute least favorite chore. i leave it until i need to wear a particular item of clothing and then i shake it out and try to get the wrinkles out. oops.

d. dogs? yes of course! brad and i have capone! (wasn’t he a cute puppy?!)

capone as a puppy

capone last night

i also think of my mom & stepdad’s dogs as “mine.” hoss & boone!

hoss & boone

e. essential start your day item: the only thing i really do every single morning is hit the snooze button and put on my glasses or contacts immediately. i am SO BLIND without them.

f. favorite color: purple all the way! ๐Ÿ™‚ i am also partial to blue because of my eyes.

g. gold or silver? silver for sure. i never wear gold jewelry

h. height: 5’4″

i. instruments you play: i took piano lessons for 5 years, but i think all i can do now is play a scale. i sang in choirs all through school though – our school choir and extracurricular ones! i loved it.

j. job title: research assistant, aka graduate student

k. kids: someday for sure! we want 2!

l. live: madison, wi – and i love it here! ๐Ÿ™‚

m. mom’s name: debra

n. nicknames: sarah bear, goose, rose

o. overnight hospital stays: just when i was born!

p. pet peeve: being late and the incorrect spellings of they’re/their/there, its/it’s, and you’re/your, etc.

q. quote from a movie:

โ€œwhenever i get gloomy with the state of the world, i think about the arrivals gate at heathrow airport. general opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but i don’t see that. it seems to me that love is everywhere. often it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there – fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. when the planes hit the twin towers, as far as i know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge – they were all messages of love. if you look for it, i’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around.โ€ -love actually

there were so many will ferrell quotes swirling around in my head for this question, but i couldn’t think of a specific favorite of them!

r. right or left handed? righty

s. siblings: yes, my lovely sister liz!

t. time you wake up: 6am monday-friday; as late as possible on saturday/sunday

u. underwear: yes always. nothing fancy though – usually the 5 for $25 ones from victoria’s secret.

v. vegetable you dislike: i honestly cannot think of a single vegetable that i don’t like. i like all of the “usual” disliked veggies: beets, brussels sprouts, cabbage, asparagus…. can you guys help me with this one? leave a comment to a veggie i might not like, please?

w. what makes you run late: i am honestly only late when i’m waiting on other people OR if i run into terrible traffic. but traffic isn’t usually even a problem because i give myself plenty of time to get places! i usually end up driving around to kill time so i’m not TOO early.

x. x-rays you’ve had done: lots – back and cervical spine, left ankle, dental

y. yummy food you make: oh boy, i think my favorite thing that i make are my portobello mushroom enchiladas or mac & cheese!

portobello muchroom enchiladas

veggie mac & cheese

z. zoo, favorite animal: this is a hard one! i like giraffes, penguins, and monkeys. that’s as far as i can narrow it down!

ok, thanks for humoring me on this post. i hope you learned something new about me today!

now can you tell me your y and c?

yummy food you make and chore you hate. if you make a really good recipe, feel free to leave a link in the comments!

also, help me out with v. what veggie might i not like?

  1. how about okra? or parsnips? I hate laundry in general but mostly because it’s in the basement…and for y, i’m thinking peanut butter chip brownies topped with pudding and strawberries that I just made are gonna be pretty yummy tonight ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Sarah says:

i do like okra! i’ve only had it a few times, but i’m a fan! and i like COOKED parsnips. i did make the mistake of trying one raw once, and i did NOT like it that way!

i saw your brownie post the other day! i’m sure they were Yummy with a capital Y! they were so pretty too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Priyanka says:

I am telling ya Sarah, there is one veggie called Karela (bitter gourd) which is liked by very few people. It is bitter!

Loved reading your abc’s! Chore I hate the most has to be cleaning the shower, which reminds me its Saturday and it is time to clean ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

    • Sarah says:

i’ve never heard of karela. can you find it in the u.s.? i would definitely try it (i will try almost anything once!), but i don’t love very bitter things, so that one does sound like something i might not like.

  3. omg, Capone was a PRECIOUS pup! Love!

  4. mmmm portobello shroom enchiladas! for sure going to have to make those sometime soon!

GOOSE!!! hehe i love it! โค how did you wind up with that nickname?

    • Sarah says:

haha, brad and i call each other goose! i think it started from me calling him a silly goose when he did or said something strange, and then just calling him goose when he did a weird thing, and then evolved into us calling each other goose almost all the time. we hardly use each others’ names when we talk to each other! just goose…

  5. Aww, Capone was such a precious puppy! I mean, he’s adorable as a dog too, but puppies are just the cutest!

  6. Holly says:

you and your sister are adorable! we need to have a madison meet-up stat!!!

    • Sarah says:

yeah we do! i’m going to be in st. louis every weekend for pretty much the next month and a half, but we’ll definitely have to find some time that works!

  7. I love Love Actually and that quote! Such a great movie!

I hate laundry and love making homemade sushi ๐Ÿ™‚
