perspiration + inspiration

hello and good morning! 🙂 i’ve really been wanting to get back into morning workouts lately, so i set my alarm for 5:30am today to get my booty to the gym! it took me a while to get motivated, but i finally crawled out of bed at 6:00. today should be the hardest day to get up, right? they’ll get easier as i get in the habit of going early? i know it will get easier, i just have to push through!  once i got there, i put in 30 minutes on the elliptical and then 20 minutes on the treadmill! i started out with walking and then did 2 pyramid intervals:

30 sec at 6.0

30 sec at 6.5

30 sec at 7.0

30 sec at 7.5

[then back down the pyramid]

30 sec at 7.0

30 sec at 6.5

30 sec at 6.0

i walked for about 2 minutes and then did the same pyramid at 45 second intervals. let me tell you, i was POOPED by the end of that. i can’t believe how quickly i lost fitness when it comes to running! i covered just under 2 miles of walking/running, so i’m going to call it 2 miles toward my goal of 500 and be happy with that!

i mentioned my plan to watch the biggest loser at the gym yesterday. well, i rolled in at 8pm only to discover that the show started at 7pm. what?!? boo. i decided to do a quick cardio session on the elliptical and headed home. i didn’t want to start watching biggest loser at the second half without seeing the beginning. not quite the 2 hour gym time i had planned on, but i’ll take what i can get! 🙂

i guess it all turned out ok because i was able to pack up my breakfast and lunch and squeeze in a couple of these:

my friend let me borrow seasons 1-5 (i get season 6 too once she finishes it!) of sex and the city!!! i’m trying not to create my own satc marathon , but it’s so hard. i love that show! i feel like carrie, samantha, miranda, and charlotte are my friends! is that taking it too far? anyway…

last week gina announced that she was working on her 2011 inspiration board, and called for her readers to make the same. well, i’m a little late, but here’s my inspiration board!

i’m hoping this can be a visual motivator to keep me on track for my 2011 goals! i hung it over my desk at home, where i spend a LOT of my time!

now, i will warn you, this inspiration board focuses mainly on my healthy living/fitness goals. these are the ones that i have the hardest time staying motivated to keep. i kind of HAVE to keep on track with my education goals or i won’t graduate. and i have been doing really well with my personal goals so far. already, the fitness goals need a kick in the butt. so here’s hoping this helps! 🙂

let’s look at this inspiration board in a little more detail…

2011 is going to be a year of love – i’m getting married to the love of my life – and i would REALLY like to look lovely in my wedding dress like this woman! [note: this is not my wedding dress]

i WILL run 500 miles in 2011. this one is going to be hard for me to do, though. i have really let my running slide, so i’m going to have to work really hard to get back into running shape!

i also plan to practice yoga at least 2x per week. i’m hoping it helps increase my flexibility, balance, strength, and help me slow down a little and just breathe. 🙂

so there ya go. have you ever made an inspiration board? this was my first, but it was fun and i think i’ll continue to do so!
